Come join us on January 11th, from 7:00 PM – 8:15 PM EST, for a People of the Global Majority Grief Cafe. This space will be a place to process, reflect on, and discuss our individual and collective experiences of death, grief, and loss. The intention behind this offering is to create room to safely discuss these deeply personal topics, be in community, and honor our diverse grief stories. This Grief Cafe will include guided meditation, reflection prompts, and plenty of space for open discussion.
This offering will be co-guided by Priyanha Nadanasabesan and Nandani Devi.
Priyanha (she/they) is a Sri Lankan American community death doula and artist. Her practice expands collective approaches to end-of-life care at the intersection of healthcare systems and spiritual well-being. Their current work includes creating containers for grief and death such as community altars, grief support sessions, death cafes, and creative processing workshops. Priyanha’s work centers collective liberation values. Her mission is to create non-judgmental and empowering spaces to explore death and loss.
Nandani (they/dem) is a neurodivergent queer Indo-Caribbean/West Indian New Yorker activist, artist, writer and intuitive counselor. They work through spiritual and creative means to decolonize wellness and advocate for the lives of the most marginalized. They are passionate about west indian visibility!, queer and trans rights as well as helping south asian diasporas to unpack and stop the harm-cycles of casteism and anti-Blackness. They challenge the erasure of their intersections and advocate for solidarity, body diversity and action towards divine embodiment and courageous shadow/inner child work!
This offering is free with the option to donate. All donations will be moved to @gazamutualaid. To sign up for this cafe, please visit Alchemystic Studio’s class schedule at https://alchemysticstudio.as.me/?appointmentType=53349391. This will not be a clinical therapist-led offering, but instead a peer-to-peer support space. Please feel free to reach out to info@priyanha.com with any questions or for alternative grief resources.
We hope to see you there ❤
